Daisy, daisy....

So, today I went and did a little work next door. I sent mom a text and asked her if Jadie needed a clown?

I suppose loved creepy little guy according to mom.

We had a visitor today. It was nice out this afternoon so, when Jadie woke from her nap we sat outside to chat. She was most definitely NOT ready to come in either.

We decided to take a little stroll and go get the mail. We walked a few laps up and down the driveway then just relaxed outside and enjoyed the sun.

Haven't been able to go outside much past couple days. Been way too cold. She was loving it.

Silly child. Always eating her straps.

Another day of Jadie

Kee came down & brought some wine. Still needs to air out. Really has a kick. Jayden was really sleepy. Passed out on kee. Ate some sweet taters. Didn't eat much unlike last night. She ate quite a bit of the sweet potatoes mom made her that night
Had a nice walk with Jayden in the stroller. Had to put her in the stroller & sit outside last night to get her to relax & go to sleep. Actually it was about 4 or 5am. Shes been pulling all nighters last 2 nights.

She tried out her Walker last night. Feet might not touch the ground but she loves it!

Short Video of Jayden eating

Doctor visit

Waiting on the doctor to come in.
Jayden had a doctor appointment for her 6 month check up. She got 3 shots 😒
I hate seeing her cry. Her legs usually are sore for the next day or 2. I think the nurse scared her when she went to weigh her. Normally they have me do it. When she took Jayden & put her on the scale she started a whiny/cry & was looking at me.

Doctor Wilson said her weight was on the low end of average. Her height however, is in the 63 percentile. In other words, I got a tall skinny bay bay πŸ’‹πŸ˜πŸ’‹

Those shots wiped her out. She slept so much over the next 2 days. That first night her temperature was a little high, 99.4. Then the next morning it was 97.4. Her eyes were so red that next day like she was sleepy & just feeling a little under the weather. Been getting a lot of cuddles though!πŸ’‹

The only way she has been able to go to sleep is on top of me. Usually I can lay her down after shes good & sleep, but not lately. Last night she would sleep about 5 mins then wake up crying. She loves to curl up on her side or sometimes even on her stomach (kinda). It is sometimes so weird when shes laying on my chest & puts her head way back. I dont know how she does it! I couldn't lay that way for sure!!
Tried & tried to get a picture of you
and your boo boos.
This was the best one lol

We started tracking her eating, she doesn't eat well during the day. They say an average 6 month old should be eating up to 32 ounces a day. Along with some solid food. We tried rice cereal, but that didn't go so great. She really doesn't seem to like it. Fed it to her 3 times now. Now she won't eat it in her bottle at night anymore πŸ‘ΆπŸΌDo not have the results yet. I plan on tracking a few more days before I come to a conclusion.

However, it is strange how she still eats 3oz bottles. She ate that much at.. a month or two old. Think maybe 2 months she was eating 2 oz every 2 hours. Most 6 month old eats twice that amount!

As long as she keeps her weight up and doesn't become under weight, I guess it's fine. I would like to try to feed her something different and see if we can get her weight up any. I just want to make sure she is getting all the nutrients and such that she needs.

Tomorrow we are going to town since we are running low on everything. I plan on picking up some sweet potatoes & maybe apples or something. Not sure yet. Peas are normally a favorite I believe.

First Road trip to Fantastic caverns

We wanted to surprise Grandma Leitha for her birthday, so we planned a surprise road trip to the fantastic caverns. We knew she had been wanting to go. It was Grandma Leitha, Uncle Steve, Aunt Dixie, you & me who all went.

Fantastic Caverns in Springfield, Missouri is the only cave in North America to offer a ride-through tour.
The Jeep-drawn trams drive along the path left behind by an ancient underground river.

The cavern has always been privately owned. The temp inside is 60 °F year-round.

Few Facts About the Caverns:

 • The cavern was discovered by John Knox and his hunting dog in 1862. Knox didn't want the cave to be exploited by the Union or Confederate, so he kept the cave's existence quiet until 1867.

• Bat manure was used to make gun powder.
• Knox put an ad in the paper for someone to explore the cave. It was first explored by 12 teen girls. Their names are written on the cave wall.

• It was renamed "Fantastic Caverns" in the 1950s.
• It was the 2nd cave in the country that had light.
• 1930s, during the Great Depression, they grew mushroom gardens in the cave.

• Only 2 places in the world can you experience true & complete darkness, one being at the bottom of the ocean, other being in a cave.
• You would lose your eyesight after 40 days in the dark.
• There are 4 animals that live in the cave. The smallest bat in MO. The crayfish & fish are both blind. You can hold a flashlight to them & see their insides. The salamander is born with sight but goes blind.

• The caverns were used as a speakeasy during the Prohibition & hosted music concerts during the 50s & 60s. The shows were broadcast on KGBX radio in the 70s. Singers like Buck Owens, who was the #1 country singer at the time & it's where the Presley's got their start.

5 months old

5 months:

Favorite toy: Owl book

  • Hold head more steady, unless your tired then you get really wobbly.
  • Started blowing full raspberries with tongue, spit and all.
  • Responds to our facial expressions, emotions and tone of voice.
  • You like to chew on my fingers.
  • Remember toys.
  • Likes noise, but not fond of clapping. You blink every time, not sure if it startles you or if its just a reaction. I have always done it when someone uses a hammer. You love crinkly sounds, like a bag of chips.
  • Looks in mirror and will smile if you seem me, but not interested in your own reflection very often.
  • You pay no attention to dogs or cats, you just don’t seem to be interested in them.
  • You like to suck on your wash cloth in the bath tub, you like the water I guess.
  • You get so excited when you see my Dr. Pepper bottle. Like your about to get a drink. You always want whatever we are eating.
  • When I took you outside and showed you flowers, you now pick them and try to eat them.
  • You seem to like reaching for stuff rather than actually grabbing it.
  • You lost half your hair in the back. Your new hair is so cute cause it is kind of fuzzy looking. I can tell where the baby hair still is, the darker hair in the back, in the center.
  • Your hair on the top of your head is getting so long. We could even put clips in it.

Aug  30- First time Uncle Steve held you.
Sept 14- I swear, you said “Mama.” We were at Aunt Keitha’s house, she was holding you up in
the sitting position. You kept fussing and you reached out to me and said “Mama”
then fussed some more. I looked at Keitha and asked if you really just said that!
She said, “It sure sounded like it!”
19-  First family road trip. It was for Grandma Leitha’s birthday, we went to Fantastic Caverns in Missouri
along with Uncle Steve and Aunt Dixie. Dixie was so impressed with how well you did.
I was really proud. You did awesome in the cave and seemed to enjoy it.
Sometimes, you amaze me with how perfect of a baby you are. You are always so happy and
well behaved the majority of the time. In the car on the way to Missouri, you just played with your toys
and played with Aunt Dixie & me. We sang songs and watched nursery rhyme music videos.
You seemed to really enjoy singing “Patty Cake” the most.

Feeding:

Right when you turned 5 months, we began putting rice cereal in your bottles at night. I only put it in 2 of your bottles though. Later that month, we tried to feed you the rice cereal with a spoon, but you did not seem to fond of it. You still are only eating 2-4 oz at a time. Mostly eat 3oz every 2-3 hrs, but during the day you seem to only eat 2 oz every 2-3 hrs. You eat more at night, but still wake up every 2-4 hours to eat, depending on how much you ate the last feeding.

You have been more difficult to feed here lately. At first, when I try to give you your bottle you will spit at it and blow it everywhere. Any sound or distraction, you will stop eating and look around to see where it came from or at whoever made the noise to see what they are doing. I normally cant even talk. I have to do my “shh shh” sound to a rhythm or sing to you to get you to relax and eat. I just started singing some to you. Mostly I just repeat your name and tell you that I love you.

Play time:

You like to watch videos on my Kindle and play games, such as playing the drums or my firework app. The fireworks app is something easy for you to do, cause you touch the screen and it creates multi-colored fireworks.
You don’t seem to show much interest in music, but you do like your music on your swing. A few times we heard you making noises like you were singing with it. You like some music videos though. Loves Grandma Leitha’s singing, it will put you right to sleep. We joke that you must be tone deaf.

You love your new bumbo. You love to sit up and be able to see everyone. It supports you really well. We will set you at the table with us at dinner and I will set you on the table while I am doing stuff in the kitchen. It allows you to be more involved and engaged with others. It is also nice to give you a bath in, especially when we are traveling. However, I learned that it floats, even with you in it. We put some ducky’s and stuff in the tub and you seemed to enjoy playing with those. I had to get you out to clean your bottom half. I learned you are not comfortable with me laying you down in the water. You started kicking and wiggling. Got me all wet.

You love when I wave a sheet or other material waved over you. You will crack up laughing. Your not quite at the “peek-a-boo” stage yet. You like the tags on the toys more than the toys themselves. You remember toys. The music player, you know to press the button but sometimes hit the light instead. You have not quite figured out which part your suppose to press, so you will sometimes just hit it over and over till it plays.

Behavior & Personality:

You are starting to mimic me some. I have been trying to get you to stick out your tongue, without blowing the raspberries. You were some, but you would only stick it out a little ways. It was like you were thinking about it, but wasn’t sure.
It is so cute when you try to give Grandma Leitha Eskimo kisses. She would always give them to you and one evening she was holding you and you turned your face into hers, wrapped your arm around her and started rubbing your face against her cheek. You have done it a few times now since then. I am not sure, but I think you place your hand on our face as a sign of affection. You just do it to Grandma Leitha & me normally. You may touch someone else's face like Uncle Steve, but you will almost hold our cheeks. After a day with Aunt Dixie on the road trip, you held her cheek.

You like it when I make repetitive sounds, like “jajaja” or “kikiki,” as in Jadie & kick. You will start cracking up laughing. You get so excited when you think one of us is about to pick you up. You start smiling and giggling when we show you attention most of the time. You think its funny when I copy you when you make noises. Sometimes we will play “Who is the loudest?” When you are on the floor playing, you wiggle around and will be all the way on the other side of the room before we know it.

You have started to fuss when I leave the room, or out of your line of sight, but usually fine as long as you can see me or Grandma. Once, you were in your swing, Grandma and I had stepped out of the room. Uncle Steve came in and talked to you for a sec then walked back out the door. You started crying out because he left.

You make a whiny fuss sound when hungry or just want picked up. Your sleepy cry tends to be more of a long sad cry. Seems like a lot of the time when you spit is when you dont like something.

I believe at 5.5 months, you began to have some stranger anxiety. When we go places and meet new people, you always look at me like “Are they safe? Is it okay?” You will put your hand on my face the entire time while we talk to whoever. You will sometimes crack a smile at the person we are talking to, but that is the extent of it.

Sleep:
  • When you get tired, you get really giggly.
  • Still sleeping in bed with me
  • Usually only want paci when you are sleepy.
  • You still like to sleep on my chest most of the time.
  • Fall asleep to Grandma Leitha telling you stories and rocking you, but I usually need to be sitting across from you.
  • When you get sleepy and eating your bottle, you start playing your hair on the top of your head. You just grab it over and over, running your fingers through it.
  • When tired and playing with your toys, you will start slamming them up and down.
  • Still have nightmares, had since you were born, but sometimes they wake you or make you cry out in your sleep. You toss and turn in your sleep a lot.
