When you were born:
It looked like you had a receding hair line. You had hair though, it was just blonde. The rest of your hair was light brown with a reddish tint. Your eye brows & lashes were blonde, so you could barely see them. You weighed 7.3 lbs & 18.9” long. The nurse called you her tough little cookie because you never cried, not even when they gave you shots. You were also the only girl on the floor. The other 3 babies were boys. You made the cutest sounds when you were sleeping. Brought me peace to be able to hear you when you slept, I knew you were okay. When you were quiet we would always check on you. Whenever you got tired, you wanted to be wrapped up & laid down.

Papa David brought us the flowers and balloon.
Shyla, in the picture, was our favorite nurse.
She was there threw labor and delivery.
It was at McAlester Regional Hospital |
You were not much on being held.
When you needed something you would fuss at us
but didn't cry. Soon as you were born you could follow
movement with your eyes. You passed the hearing test.
You have a big head for your size, which could be one reason
you got stuck on my pelvic bone during delivery.

I had to have a C-section after about 8 hours trying to deliver.
When I was pregnant with you I enjoyed making predictions
to what you would look like or how big you would be.
I thought you would be 7.3 lbs & 18.5 -19”.
I knew you would be born with hair. I use to make jokes
about an old wise tale I heard. That heart burn was a sign
that your child would be born with hair. I had never experienced
true heartburn until then.

- When we got home about a week later we noticed you had a strawberry on the back of your neck.
- My nicknames for you: My little “Strawberry,” Jadie, JJ, Love
- We started you out sleeping in your playpen, which you did okay in for awhile. We tried your bassinet that came with the playpen, but it leaned to one side. Grandma Leitha spoiled you by laying you on a pillow in the living room all the time. The crib was not soft enough I guess, because you preferred my bed. The ac was always waking you up.
- You hated your hair being messed with, brushed or the top of your head being touched. you would fuss when we washed your hair & get mad when it was rubbed.
- Grandma Leitha thinks its funny to call Smokey, our cat, your “brother.” She also started calling Aunt Keitha, “Aunt sissy”
March
21- First time Aunt Keitha held you.
24 - Chriss came over to the house, was her first time holding you.
26 - Jan & Missy sent you gifts, play mat & play thing for the car.
29 - First time Aunt Dixie held you
30 - First time Maylee held you with Grandma Leitha’s help.
Neighbor, Manny & his family came over with a gift for you.

Top right picture was in the hospital, you were 2 days old. You were 4 days old in the pic with your hands up by your face. I thought it was so cute! 6 days old in the other 2 pics. |
Got hiccups daily.
Gas pains were bad the first week we were home. They lessened once we started mixing the bottles half breast milk half formula, in the beginning of April.
April 5 was the first time you hate 3 oz. You did not eat that much again for sometime.
I still tried to breast feed you as much as possible during the day & do bottles at night. I would sometimes nurse at night even unless Grandma Leitha was keeping you. You sometimes did really good, but sometimes you would not want to nurse at all. Even when you did, you did not seem to get full. We still had to feed you a bottle afterwards.

Few days after we got home from the hospital, we had to quit swaddling you with your hands. You liked them either by your face or above your head. You started rolling to your side to sleep a lot of the time.
2 weeks:
- Now back to birth weight.
- Loves looking around
- Liked your back patted, not rubbed, you were ticklish.
- When we would rock or bounce you to sleep, you liked to be patted fast & kinda hard. You really liked to bounce, to the point your head would bounce all over then your eyes would roll up & then close.
- You always kicks blankets off. Also your socks, so I started using the long socks. They can go up to your knees, or folded down, so you did not kick them off. You loved to kick and you would get your hands going too.
- Slept best in our arms or sometimes you wanted to be laid down to stretch out. You always had your arms above your head. We held you plenty, but wanted to make sure to lay you down as much as possible. You never were the kind of baby who always needed to be held. We always laid you down when you slept during the day. At night, if you wouldn’t sleep in the playpen, either Grandma Leitha would sleep with you on your pillow on the couch or you would sleep in my arms on the recliner.
- Hardly ever cry unless you are hurting. The rest of the time, if you needed something, you would just fuss at us.
- Eats 2oz every 2 hrs. The Dr. Brown bottles seemed to work much better than Tommy Tippee.
- No wall decor yet around your crib. Still looking for something that I would like to put up.
